Tour the Tablelands - A$398.00 for two people
One of my favourite road trips is up to the Tablelands, the much higher region to the west of Cairns and the surrounding coastal plains. To get there,we head south of Cairns, past historic Gordonvale and Goldsborough, before heading up the picturesque Gillies Ranges, which used to be one way until not too long ago...
At the top of 29kms of turns and views at every corner, we turn right to visit the majestic Cathedral Fig Tree (believed to be more than 500 years old), before heading over to Lake Barrine for a morning tea overlooking one of the most picturesque bodies of water, well anywhere.
We then head over to Millaa Millaa Falls for a swim and a walk and then lunch nearby. Suitably refreshed, we then head down the range and back to Cairns. Aim to be away for about 5-6 hours, round trip.
The above price is for two passengers and includes morning tea, bottled water, towels and lunch at the Falls Tea House. Additional passengers are only A$98.00 pp, up to a maximum of four.
